Mivid.net Video File Type Recommendations

We hope you will read through this entire page as it gives complete information on Mivid.net's conversion process so that you can know how to make your videos come out looking even better than before! There will be some definitions of terms used on this page at the bottom as well.

Mivid.net prides itself on the fact that we allow just so many different filetypes and can offer brilliant high definition outputs for each and every one of them. However, some file types just work much better with our system than others. For starters, here is the list of all the accepted filetypes by Mivid.net:

divx

m4v

mp4

mkv

mov

mpg

avi

mpeg

wmv

rm

flv

As stated earlier, all these filetypes work, but there are some that are perfect for our conversion system. All videos are passed through our complex conversion system and end up as flv files encoded with the h264 codec for full quality. Some files already are acceptable for watching online and can be uploaded directly without any conversion whatsoever. The two formats are as follows:

flv (any type of codec, however we cannot assure compatibility with all viewers)

mp4 (as long as its encoded in the h264 codec, it will be acceptable for automatic publication)

Other files such as mov files that are encoded with h264 are recommended as they convert nicely with our system.

Divx files are accepted on our servers, but be warned that due to their complexity and difference from the final format, they take exponentially longer to encode than other files.

Mivid.net soon plans on adding a feature that allows for in-broswer converting. This will greatly speed up the conversion process and you will be able to see the status of your conversion!
